IT System Technician

Location:  Honolulu, HI Compensation: $25-$30 per hour DOE

Pacific Wireless Communications currently has a part-time IT System Technician position available.

Position Summary
  • Provide technical support (designing, analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing) on all aspects of the company's computer networks, systems software, application software, Dell hardware, Microsoft Exchange email, Active Directory administration, and Accounting and Service applications.
  • Provide helpdesk support and resolve problems for the company's desktop and laptop computers.
  • Configures on-site network systems (e.g. servers, routers, network security, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient operations.
  • Installs network (client and server) software on a variety of platforms (e.g. service packs, application software, operating software, hardware upgrades, etc.) for the purpose of upgrading and maintaining District network systems.
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions and applying industry accepted best practices.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Daily activities include monitoring and responding to server events, ensuring data integrity, gathering server statistics, and performing general maintenance tasks.
  • Manages product life cycles to maintain vendor support, maintenance contracts and software licensing compliance as well as needed updates/upgrades
  • Maintains the confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of the company's network and IT systems.
Job Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook
  • Experience with the installation and Repair of Servers, Computers and Networks
  • Experience with virtualization technology preferred
  • High level of knowledge of antivirus and security systems
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Strong configuration management skills
  • Strong internet working (protocol, port and routing level) knowledge.
  • Proven experience at working with external suppliers to provide solutions
  • Strong working knowledge of backup and recovery technologies relating to messaging systems
  • Education and Experience
  • Associate Science degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Exchange
  • 2+ years experience with Windows Server Operating Systems.
  • 2+ years experience with Servers,WANS/LANS, and Help Desk support

TOWER TECHNICIAN / INSTALLER

Location: Honolulu

Level: Experienced Tower Technician/Steel or Iron Worker Experience

Compensation: Competitive market based salary proportionate with experience and certifications.

Job Description Summary: Pacific Wireless Communications is looking for experienced applicants to install 4G LTE equipment on cellular towers, rooftops and other elevated structures in Hawaii and surrounding areas. Perform other installation, inspection and maintenance activities as directed. Follow safety rules and utilize 100% tie off techniques at all times. Possess basic hand tools for type of work being performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Climbing towers in excess of 300 feet and ladders at various heights
  • Construction, erection and maintenance of various tower types
  • Off-loading material and inventory
  • Preparation and cleaning of sites
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
  • Frequent overtime is required
  • Other duties may be assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb and to work at heights
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to work outside in all elements; including but not limited to snow, rain, wind and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to perform a variety of labor intensive tasks
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform the same task repeatedly
  • Ability to bend, twist and contort body for extended periods of time to perform specific tasks
  • Must be in good health in order to climb

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Clear driving record, background, and drug screen
  • Possess a valid driver's license -- To be insurable to drive company vehicles
  • Commercial Drivers will be required to sign previous employer affidavit to release any drug screen or safety violation information
  • Possess or be able to obtain valid Climber Certification Card
  • Currently have or willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Training Card, First Aid, and CPR

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Location:  Honolulu

Position Summary: The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, service & repair of wireless communications, CCTV, network and various electronic equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General 2 way radio technician
  • Major tasks include troubleshooting customer communications equipment and systems (including LMR systems, Microwave Systems, Wireless Networks, Wireless Point to Point, Wireless Point to Multi-Point, Physical Security
  • Key skills and abilities include basic knowledge of audio, RF, digital, and microprocessor electronic circuits found in communications equipment; problem solving skills to troubleshoot equipment critical to a large system where down time is very costly; ability to deal with customer technical and manufacturer field personnel

Job Qualifications

  • Technical design and troubleshooting expertise in wireless telecommunications
  • Excellent report writing abilities
  • Ability to work independent of supervision
  • Ability to transform conceptual technical ideas into words and diagrams
  • Basic understanding of electronic theory and radio design
  • Strong technical, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Autonomous individual that is motivated, a team player and dedicated to training lower level engineers and or technicians
  • In field support of service orders and or projects are also essential
  • Ability to deploy and perform work in the field as a part of a team or as a technical team lead

Education and Skills

  • Technical school training or similar background
  • Electrical/IT theory knowledge required
  • FCC license, CET, A+ or Network+ certification highly desired

INSTALLER

Location: Honolulu

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Able to understand and follow directions
  • Assist with assembly and installation in all aspects of an RF, system.
  • Complete daily timesheets and half sheets for work completed on various projects.
  • Assist lead with all requests for RF install.
  • Pull part and material needed for installation
  • Make sure trucks are fully stocked with required hardware
  • Work with expediter and helper to assure material is ready
  • Verify trucks are fully equipped with safety items such as fire extinguisher, first aid kits, rigging gear.
  • Advance understanding of OSHA/HIOSH safety regulations and forms required for each project assigned.
  • Understand and complete all required reports on customer closeout and company documentation.
  • Understanding and concept of microwave systems wave guide or fiber
  • Install Fiber RF systems Wireless or Fiber distribution systems
  • Understanding of project scope and provide direction to helpers
  • Read and give direction off of project blue prints
  • Accountable for quality and safety on site.
  • Maintain project schedules
  • Work with and update project managers daily and provide input or recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and be a team leader
  • Provide basic EME services and assistance as needed.
  • Help Project lead maintain and track project hours for crew.
  • Inspecting all safety gear daily and filling out required forms
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualification Requirements:
  • Able to properly put on and adjust a full set of climbing gear.
  • Able to climb RF tower and monopole structures safely to a minimum of 50 feet
  • Able to push, pull, turn, carry & lift loads of over 70 lbs.
  • Basic understanding of fiber RF systems Wireless or Fiber distribution systems
  • Understanding of project scope and provide direction to helpers
  • Full understanding of quality expectation
  • Able to maintain project schedules
  • Work with and update project managers daily and provide input or recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and be a team leader
  • Must be able to install the following equipment with proficiency: a. Microwave dish and wave guide b. BDA, DAS, H-frame and tower members and structural parts for antenna systems c. All types and sizes of RF antennas systems and required hardware
  • Must be able to frequently bend or stoop over materials being assembled, repaired, tested, or worked on.
  • Must have own tools in accordance with tool list provided upon employment. (All required tools must be acquired within 3 months from the date of employment)
  • Must be able to operate basic hand tools as described in personal tool list.
  • Able to follow directions from Installer Lead and Group Lead.
  • Ability to follow and comply with company and OSHA safety work procedures when assisting in installation and when using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in environments where temperatures may be extreme and may require the use of protective clothing.
  • Able to work standard 8 hour shift with overtime, weekend and night work as needed.
  • Able to travel to neighbor islands and out of state (if necessary) for work.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must have valid driver license
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Understand and use of RF monitors
  • Must be able to get security clearance
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Com trained or tower Certified
  • Trade School a plus but not a required
  • Forklift or bucket truck certification a plus but not required
