Tower Technician/ Top Hand

Location:  Honolulu

Level: Tower Technician / Top Hand

Compensation: Competitive market based salary proportionate with experience and certifications.

Job Summary: As an integral member of a crew, the Tower Technician /Top Hand will be responsible for the installation of microwave and radio installations. Assigned tasks may include installation on rooftops, existing towers; tower reinforcement; antenna installation and testing; equipment inspections; microwave dish path alignment; waveguide testing and troubleshooting. This position requires the ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment and maintain a high level of professionalism, courtesy, customer service and ethics.

Pacific Wireless Communications has immediate full time positions for experienced Tower Technician/Top Hand. Applicants must have experience in leading installing microwave and LTE antenna systems on elevated antenna structures. Installers must follow safety rules and utilize 100% tie off techniques at all times. Possess basic hand tools for type of work being performed.
Job Description:

  • Lead work on tower top, looking after all aspects of work while at the tower top, ensuring that a quality installation has been performed, including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, etc.
  • Installation of up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, true-ing up, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, reading maps and a compass, torqueing to spec, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, plumb and tilt readings
    with smart level, etc. Closeout requirements are an absolute must.
  • Perform wave-guide, coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installation, connector installation, sweep and testing assisting, weather proofing, color-coding, labeling, etc. connect coax feedlines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation.
  •  Do grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required, etc.
  • Assist on overall job on ground work as well, all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs, maintain safe work environment, daily use and completion of company and customer forms, assisting with overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.
  • Must know how to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc. Must be able to work in a team environment on the crew and be a valued member of the team and the company

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb and to work at heights
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to work outside in all elements; including but not limited to snow, rain, wind and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to perform a variety of labor intensive tasks
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform the same task repeatedly
  • Ability to bend, twist and contort body for extended periods of time to perform specific tasks
  • Must be in good health in order to climb

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Microwave/LTE Antenna Systems Installer
  • Microwave Team Leader or Group leader experience is a plus
  • Possess a valid driver's license -- To be insurable to drive company vehicles
  • Commercial Drivers will be required to sign previous employer affidavit to release any drug screen or safety violation information
  • Possess or be able to obtain valid Climber Certification Card
  • Currently have or willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Training Card, First Aid, and CPR

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell to customers wireless dispatch radio systems solutions which provide productivity and cost savings tools to customers.
  • Achieving the assigned sales goals;
  • Team with company employees to sell the company’s install, service, and maintenance products;
  • Maintaining detailed knowledge of the 3rd Party Applications that work with push to talk dispatch radio system.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
  • Represent company at trade association meetings to promote products.
  • Confer with potential customers regarding equipment and services needs and advise customers on types of equipment to purchase.

Required Experience and Knowledge

  • Two years of highly responsible and verifiable experience in a competitive sales environment.  The successful candidate must be an aggressive, highly skilled sales professional with proven success in selling in a competitive marketplace.
  • Sales and Marketing -- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Technology – Sales technical knowledge of consultant type selling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be able to work in a team environment.

Experience and Education

- Minimum education equivalent to 4 year college degree or 2+ years of sales experience in a competitive environment.

- 2+ years of sales experience in working with technology systems is a plus.
